Our Iniquities Do Not Define Us

This image sparked some ideas I want to share. This sweet girl is Gabriela. She stood out to me at the distribution because she had grown out of her old chair. Her mom helped Suzanna, Audrey, Chloe, and me prepare a new one for her. She asked her daughter whether she was comfortable and what she preferred. It showed the unique bond between a child and a parent, much like my mom and me.

Truth is, every time I go on these Youth ROC trips, I find myself with the same feeling of connection. That as a being created by God, I am endowed with immutable value. Same with this girl. Same with all of us. Thank God our iniquities do not define us, but rather our Creator! This places us on grounds of relatability. Relationships seem to be a catalyst for empathy and compassion. This girl and her mom drew love out of my heart, equipping me with more love for others on the rest of the mission trip.

I’m really glad this is the photo taken with me in it. This girl and her mom were the highlight of my trip!
