Meet Gabriella – A Life-Changing Moment

Meet Gabriela

A Beautiful Engaging Smile

If you were to meet Gabriella*, the first thing you notice about her is her engaging smile. It’s immediately apparent this is a child who loves life and other people. Only then do you realize she is in her mother’s arms because she is not ambulatory.

Being carried or lying on the floor has been her only two options and now ROC Wheels has arrived to offer a third alternative, and give a life-changing moment for this vibrant three-year-old.

When she enters the room, Gabriella immediately spots the wheelchair that was made for her. Her brown eyes sparkle with anticipation. For the first time, she is going to experience the mobility she has only imagined.

Gabriella is a social child who talks non-stop. But her inability to get around without her mother has limited her. While her mother will carry her, she has two other children and a full-time job that requires her attention, too.

A Custom-Made Wheelchair

The custom-made wheelchair is transformational. Designed to fit her body shape and support her spine, the chair not only offers freedom, it relieves lifelong pain by aligning her correctly. Her mother, seeing the difference the chair makes for her daughter, cannot contain her joy.

Secure in her chair, Gabriella wants to socialize. One of her first outings was to visit the ROC Wheels team where they are staying. “She held court,” says Dean Hampton, Executive Director. “Everybody loved her.”

Thank you for making opportunities like this possible.

Big Goals For 2022

Right now, ROC Wheels is in an expansive phase, seeking the most effective ways to fulfill our mission of using dedicated teams to design, assemble, and deliver wheelchairs and gait trainers to children who lack these resources.

We have an ambitious, but achievable, goal for 2022. ROC Wheels wants to deliver 475 adaptive wheelchairs to children in under-resourced countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Mexico, Peru, Kosovo, Nepal, and Argentina to offer many more life-changing moments.

We Need Your Help To Provide More Life-Changing Moments

We need your help to accomplish this goal, and we strive to use your money wisely. Eighty-five percent of ROC Wheel’s expenses go to further our wheelchair development and programs that support communities around the globe.
