Youth ROC Testimonials – Restored Hope

Youth ROC

On our trip to Mexico with ROC Youth, we began our journey in Tucson, Arizona, with a group of high schoolers and chaperones who hardly knew each other. Despite their unfamiliarity, every member had a shared mission: to be a beacon of hope and service. After crossing the border, we arrived at Casa de Esperanza in Guaymas. Before the dust had settled from unpacking, the students immediately took to painting buildings and organizing supplies, diving straight into the work. In partnership with a local team in Guaymas, we also took part in outreach to the homeless, distributing meals and offering encouragement to those in need.

The heart of our trip took place in Guasave, where we dedicated two days to fit children into specialized wheelchairs. The transformation was profound. For many families, this moment marked a life-changing shift—parents who had suffered physical strain from carrying their children now found relief and freedom. The children, once dependent for every movement, gained the dignity of independent mobility. Our students were hands on throughout the process, not only working with the chairs but also connecting deeply with the children and their families. The impact was undeniable and immediate, as the gift of mobility changed lives and restored hope. This experience truly brought home the significance of our mission and the real difference that generous contributions make in the lives of these families.
