The War in Ukraine and ROC Wheels’ Response

As a country ravaged by the devastation of a continuing war, Ukraine continues to witness the catastrophic effects on her citizens and, particularly her children. At ROC Wheels, we feel a call to provide support for Ukraine.

The Ukraine crisis has displaced over 6.5 million people since February 24, 2022.

“Over 400,000 children currently live in the conflict zone, child poverty rates are up more than 57% across Ukraine. Since the beginning of the conflict, over 750 education facilities have become damaged. Nearly 3,370 civilians have been killed since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, with more than 7,000 more injured.”  (Save the Children)

Sadly, these numbers are increasing by the day, as are the needs of children with disabilities. Dropping everything they owned, desperately trying to escape the constant barrage from artillery fire and missiles, families left their homes and their belongings. Many children are without their wheelchairs and other mobility devices.

To add to the already horrific situation, Human Rights Watch is reporting that Russian forces are using banned antipersonnel mines across contested territories. Because of other conflicts around the world, we know these devices create havoc, causing death or maiming their victims. The need for wheelchairs is only going to increase.

How We Can Come Together And Help

Working with partners in Ukraine and surrounding countries, ROC Wheels feels called to provide support for Ukraine with wheelchairs for these children, and share the hope of Christ with their families. Our goal is to provide wheelchairs for children identified as having a need.

We are asking donors to help us deliver the much-needed gift of mobility. You can help by supporting our EXPAND Ukraine Campaign in reaching our financial goal of $30,000.
